My name is Maria, but everyone calls me Mai. You pronounce it like the English word ’my’. My pronouns are she/her.

I was born in Sweden to Finnish parents and have moved a lot in my life, living in Jakarta as a child and in Tartu during and after my student years. I taught Finnish as a second language in Finland, Estonia, Romania and Latvia. I’m currently settled in Oulu, working as a university lecturer of Estonian and Finnish.
